In winter 2023, I had an incredible two months at Penny Lou Cottage. I recommend the experience to anyone looking for inspiration, and as much solitude or community as you and your project may need. Within the cottage walls, you can feel the generous spirit of PLC’s namesakes, all the people who have created there before, and the devoted network of islanders that tends the cottage and guides the program. Outside, you’ll find mountains, the sea, and also great coffee or a drink, if you're looking for company. 

From the moment I made my application, through my time in the cottage’s sanctuary, and in the months since the end of my residency, Penny Lou Cottage has helped to focus, generate, and affirm my project and my larger possibilities as a creator. It’s a wonderful gift, and for me it keeps on giving.
